PVSC AT STRUT YOUR MUTT

From Carol Younoszai's report:

PVSC's participation in downtown Bethesda, Maryland's, Strut Your Mutt day was a phenomenal success! This was essentially a dog owner/lover fair with each booth dog-related in some way. There were doggy boutiques, pet-sitting services, rescue groups, pet shops, veterinary practices, etc. A couple of blocks of Woodmont Avenue had been blocked off and hundreds of pet owners came for a day out with their dogs. Woodmont Avenue is lined with restaurants and eateries, and tables and chairs had been set up on the sidewalks for the fairgoers to dine outside. The weather was sunny, breezy and in the 70's--perfect for dogs and visitors alike.

The cost to us was $100 for a tented space with a large table and two chairs provided. We placed our table to the side and put out our SCA, AKC and PVSC informational brochures. At the front of our tent, we set up two grooming tables and placed our dogs up on the tables.

Our Sams drew visitors like a magnet. Everyone came to pet them, and we were inundated with questions about our breed. There was heavy foot traffic all day long, and we rotated our dogs on the tables to give them a break. Our dogs were wonderful. Their tails wagged non-stop all day, and they loved the constant petting and attention.

Our booth was very popular, and you can see from some of the pictures the visitors waiting their turn to see and pet the dogs. Interestingly enough, we were the only breed club represented.

We even got the opportunity to take our dogs up on the stage for an available-for-adoption event. Dave Richardson told a little about our breed and people interested in a rescue Sam were given our booth number and asked to stop by.

Our success was in no small part due to our club members and their dogs who participated.

Our thanks go to Donna and Matt Smith who with their committee have developed an excellent PVSC brochure, business cards for your information officers and club members to carry, and a poster board of club photos of our dogs' activities. Donna and Matt also worked tiredlessly in our booth all day.

Our thanks to Wendy Friedlander and Lola, who arrived still wearing her therapy dog cape from her morning hospital therapy work.

Our thanks to Dave Richardson who brought Tia who did her breed proud and Anne MacArthur who gave the handlers a well-deserved break.

Our thanks to Setara who made her owner so very proud with the way she handled herself up on the table.

And a final, big thank you to Lanny who arranged our participation and her Mokei who was a fantastic ambassador for our breed and probably the most photographed dog there.

PVSC HIKES
Pictures from the 2007 Winter Hike. The first question is who is driving and who is hiking?
Did anyone mention that it was cold...and yet Tamara was able to take these wonderful pictures. The Winter and Spring (pictures later) were organized by Cathy Cusack. Donna and Matt Smith graciously lent their house as the starting and ending point, with welcome refreshments provided.
I'm outa here!

Other than no snow on the tow path, it doesn't look a heck of a lot warmer, does it?
